Cabazon Dinosaurs Travel Guide: A Must-See California Attraction

Everyone I know has a big butt, let’s talk about your big but , Simone”… This sweet and life changing scene acted out by Pee Wee Herman and Diane Salinger happens while sitting in this giant T-Rex in Cabazon, California. PeeWee and Simone watch the sun rise and ponder life… It’s still one of my favorites after all these years!

Being a California Native I never made my way to Cabazon . It wasn’t until I watched Pee Wee’s Big Adventure that I finally said one night” where the heck are these dinosaurs, and are they real? ”

Exploring the Cabazon Dinosaurs: What Makes Them So Iconic

Once you arrive, you can’t help but smile — the Cabazon Dinosaurs are larger than life, and every angle feels like a perfect photo moment. We wandered through the small outdoor exhibit where you’ll follow the path and see other dinosaurs. Stop in the gift shop for dinosaur-themed souvenirs, and grab a “Tell em Large Marge sent ya!” mug . You can climb inside the famous T. rex for a panoramic view of the desert. It’s teeny inside the head – mouth so kind of misleading to see how much bigger it looked onscreen but still so fun!

It’s the perfect stop to stretch your legs on a California road trip, especially if you’re heading between Los Angeles, Palm Springs, or Joshua Tree. This quirky, colorful attraction captures everything I love about unexpected roadside adventures — fun, nostalgic, and totally picture-perfect. There’s an In&Out Burger next door . What could be better ! Another California institution .

Now YOU  can go into the T-Rex and Ponder life like PW and Simone. It’s been open since 1975 and it’s always been one of those iconic Cali pit stops . It’s cute and worth a stop!! These first pics are when I first went in 2012.If you’re road trippin through CA it’s worth it to stop here ! XO Tera
